No rest for the (long) weekend...! Four days and a bit and almost 800 km of riding... Yet again, a rediscovery of France. Yet again, I've lived the ride and I've loved the ride, outrageously and without end. Yet again, my restless soul was being soothed because of a simple bike ride. It's heartbreaking.
I guess I am officially a Francophile! I might sound like a Lonely Planet writer, so be it! From the hard faced brick small towns in Le Nord to the tranquil farming villages of Picardy, from the forested hillsides around Seine and Eure rivers to the pastoral hedgerow landscapes in Normandy: it all gave me a great sense of belonging. The road comforted me, it was a home ride. Surrounded by a country rooted in history, somehow I felt rooted in the country. I saw the representation of a world I know and a world which feels secure. It's where I belong, both on a very personal level - already have spent so many times here from early childhood on, as from a way larger perspective. As no other country's face, the face of France is emblematic for ages of human history and tradition I am part of anyhow... And so on...!
Could it? Just what I was thinking while riding my bike anyway!
