I cherish some little dreams. Riding along the Oostvaardersplassen - man made wilderness in Flevoland - was something I had in mind for years. I finally did, and it was on the Road to Sweden.
I wasn't feeling very well yesterday, when i left Antwerp for Rotterdam (110 km) under a stormy sky. I made up my mind quickly. As I entered the Netherlands, the sun came out and I got excited. Netherlands: cycling paradise, spatial planners ideal, a wide open world won from the sea, an ode to human inventiviness.
Same story this morning: nasty, rain fueled skies, awful weather forecast. The idea of riding 200 km to Zuidwolde wasn't very appealing, my mood was in fearful doubt. I can take a train anyway. I made up my mind quickly. After only 40 km it stopped raining, strong western winds pushed me forward when riding along the Markermeer, and I got excited.
Going back to Germany tomorrow, whatever the weather will be. Once on the road, life is good!
(*) Excuse my language, but it fits to the story and some might like it!
