What's your plan for... next summer? In June I will ride to Kiev (*), Ukrain for sure - but that's not the only thing on my mind now!
What about going from John O' Groats to Land's End... would you be up for that?Vincent asked me a while ago. JOGLE - or LEJOG: it's the classic traversal of Great Britain from the very northernmost point of Scotland to the farthest tip of Cornwall in South West of England - said to be an iconic challenge for centuries.
Although rather coming out of the blue I immediately loved Vincent's question, very much! As I am mostly a solo long distance rider for a couple of years now, this one will be different from anything I've done before - riding with company the whole way down the UK. JOGLE would be around 1600 kilometers!
Honestly, I wouldn't just go off for a journey of this size with anybody. Though the exciting thing is that from right after the question, I believed with Vincent it sure would work out fine. It's just my feeling, although we barely did any rides together!
Last weekend, Vincent and me embarked for a first multiple day test ride - can we stand each other for at least two days (joke)? Yes, we can! It was awesome... back and forth from Ghent to Chimay - (164 km on Saturday and 196 km on Sunday). That tastes for more!
We are now officially on our way to Land's End! Estimated time of arrival: somewhere in early September 2018!
(*) update 01.12.2017: I have changed my mind... Kiev will be Odessa, Ukrain anyway!
