First things first, so for today a blog post about... yesterday, as it was all too good not to share, both the road and everything else! The road: Chisinau, Moldova to Iasi in the far east of Romania, 161 gently rolling kilometers through a very green, forested scenery. Moldova: modest country, modest beauty, and I do like modesty!
Welcome in the European Union, is the proud and clear message displayed at the Moldovian - Romanian border. The last 20 kilometer to Iasi I joined the evening training ride of a group of fellow roadbike riders. That was truly a perfect welcome, home sweet home my Europe!
In Iasi, I have spent a wonderful night with Gelu and Cristina and the kids. Life is going its way... Last time we've met (more than 5 years ago) they were two kids, now they are four! Especially with the 6 year old Maria I had great talks. It felt like she was more aware than adults I don't speak the language very well, so she was very concerned to speak very slow, and repeated or explained more what I hadn't understand. Maria was even sincerely disappointed when I had to go back to my hostel, already late at night. I could have stayed with them, she told me. Both funny and endearing!
Tomorrow or the day after tomorrow, I'll post today's story, stay tuned!
